Disney Cruise Line

Updated March 2023

Disney Cruise Line operates 5 ships, Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy and Wish, with 2 more currently being built, the Treasure and one as yet unnamed.

These ships vary in size from the 2700 capacity of the Magic & Wonder to the newest ship the Wish at 5000 guest capacity. These ships are built to be family friendly with extensive kids areas including the ‘Oceaneers Club’ for ages 3-12 and ‘Edge’ for ages 11-14 and finally ‘Vibe’ for ages 14-17.

There are also adult only areas like the ‘Cove Cafe’ located on the top deck with the adult only pool, dining at ‘Palo’ or ‘Remy’s’ and pubs and nightclubs.

Along with fantastic dining options there is also a Broadway caliber theater featuring a different performance each night and a cinema aboard each ship.

Each ship sails to different ports and the itinerary changes throughout the year. Disney have just announced that their as yet unnamed new ship will sail from Singapore and serve the Asian market.

Disney also owns two private islands ‘Castaway Cay’ and ‘Lighthouse point’ in the Bahamas, the latter is scheduled to open in June 2024. Sailings to Castaway Cay are extremely popular as guests have access to almost the whole island, with snorkeling, bike riding and BBQ dining available. Some activities do incur an extra charge and all of this is detailed on the Disney Cruise Line app.

The Disney Cruise Line app is crucial to your planning of onboard activities as well as any excursions you may want to take whilst in port. We will be sailing on the Disney Magic in June 2023 and posting blog updates on the whole process of a Disney Cruise from booking excursions and dining 75 days before to boarding and what we get up to on the ship.

As we have not entered our booking window yet our Cruise Line app only displays the basic information about our cruise schedule. As we learn more we will be posting updates in our blog

Disney Magic

This is Disney’s first ship and set sail on July 30th 1998. The restaurants on board include Animators Palate, Rupunzels Royal Table, Lumiere's and the adult only Palo. This ship has a guest capacity of 2700 spread across 875 staterooms over 11 decks. Goofy can be seen hanging from the aft of the ship as he tries to finish painting the hull.

Disney Wonder

The Wonder first began sailing in 1999 and is the sister ship to the Magic. They are both the same size and have the same guest capacity but the internal decoration and restaurant offerings make this ship a different experience. The Wonder will be sailing to Australasia in 2023 where is will spend much of its time on new already sold out itineraries. Triton's and Tiana's Place are the unique dining options on the Wonder, there is also an Animators Palate and Palo which are exactly the same as the Magic.

Disney Dream

The Dream is almost double the size of the original 2 ships at a capacity of 4000 guests. It set sail in 2011 and mainly travels around the Bahamas. In 2023 it will travel to Europe and you will be able to board from Southampton on a Mediterranean cruise. As this is a larger ship there are even more activities including the Aqua Duck the first water coaster at sea there are also even more dining options. There are now two adult only restaurants Palo and Remy and 3 rotational dining options Artist Palate, Enchanted Garden & Royal Palace.

Disney Fantasy

The Fantasy is the sister ship to the Dream and set sail in 2012. The ships 11 horns are able to play a variety of different tunes from “Be Our Guest” to ‘Do you want to build a snowman”. If more than one Disney ship is in a port it is common to have the ships horns sounding in competition with each other. Every Disney ship has a fairy godmother and Mariah Carey is the Fantasy’s.

Disney Wish

The Wish is the newest ship and set sail in 2022. The Wish and Treasure are part of the new Triton class of ships and have guest capacity of 5000. This is the most technically advanced ship in the fleet and features the Aqua Mouse the first attraction at sea. The dining options are also even more immersive with Hyperspace Lounge and Avengers-Quantum Encounter where you can loose yourself in the fantastic Disney Imagineering.
